FAQ
No, we are not a school. Camp Wanderlust offers instructional support for students who are home schooled, and supplemental academic support to students who attend traditional schools. We do not provide a traditional curriculum.
At Camp Wanderlust, the world is our classroom and no two days look the same for us.
Some days, we learn in the classroom, some days we learn at a library, some days we learn at the beach, and some days we learn on the road.
Our customary enrollment process begins at the end of summer where new and existing parents attend our annual fall meet and greet where they have an opportunity to begin the application process.
Each year, families must reapply and go through the complete enrollment process.
Camp Wanderlust is a members-only organization and we handpick the families who are closely aligned with the mission and vision of our organization.
We welcome new families to register for our educational and entertainment services year-round through our website.
Our exploration branch opens during the summer and winter; space is limited, so applications are available on a first-come basis. Stay tuned in by following our instagram page @campwanderlust
Camp Wanderlust has an Entertainment Division that makes our program very unique.
Whenever a member of our Entertainment Division must attend an industry event, audition, taping or
call back, and it is during our operational hours, our learning lab students attend. In cases where additional members are not permitted on set, instructions may be canceled for the day with short notice.
When possible, a pre-screened parent volunteer will oversee the education division students while they work on their curriculums as assigned by their homeschool or traditional school.
Yes, we do! If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please request a volunteer application via email to begin the onboarding process. All of our volunteers are background checked and drug-screened. Upon successful clearance, the volunteers are interviewed by our board and trained if accepted. All of our volunteers are also CPR/AED certified.
As many of you know, for the past three summers, Camp Wanderlust has traveled across the nation to locations like Texas, Louisiana, Lake Tahoe, Chicago, NYC, Aspen, Tulsa, and more, in the pursuit of exposing youth to different cultures, nature and history.
In 2022, we have plans to visit Big Bear, Lake Tahoe, NYC and take a tour exploring the greatest hidden gems in California.
While these trips serve as a vessel to uplift children from underserved communities, they are also extremely costly. Many families are facing financial hardship and are unable to fund trips for their children.
We are asking for donations to our Travel Fund so that we may continue to offer scholarships to children of the most deserving families.
These donations help alleviate some of the excessive costs of housing, food and other travel expenses.
Scholarships are offered to families who demonstrate the need and are available on a limited basis, depending on funding availability.
Scholarship applications may be requested by email.
Scholarship applications are processed, and applicants are interviewed.
Final decisions are made by our board members.
All students and volunteers must have all vaccinations currently required by the department of public health.
Exception and exemption requests are handled on a case-by-case basis and must be requested via email prior to enrollment.
If a parent/guardian auto-enrolls and remits payment, but fails to meet the vaccination requirements, a refund will not be granted, but a credit reserved in accordance with our current policies.
